GG Poker's Road to Vegas Satellite Promotion Ends, with 840 Players Qualifying for WSOP Main Event

The Road to Vegas promotion on GG Poker has been running since the middle of March and it has finally run out of tarmac, having finally reached the pot of gold that is the Horseshoe Casino, at the heart of the Las Vegas strip.

At the beginning of the journey GG Poker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu declared that this year the site aimed to send over 1,000 players to the series, a higher total than the 774 who made their way to Vegas in 2023 via GG Poker.

The site tried hard to generate 1,000 qualifiers, but fell short, with the final number of players winning their way into the $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event standing at 830.

However over 239 players also chose to buy-in directly via GG Poker, in return for receiving the same benefits that qualifiers receive.

This brought the total number of players from GG Poker playing in the Main Event of the WSOP over the 1,000 target.

Over $1.6m in Overlays During the Road to Vegas Promotion

The number of players may have reached the 1,000 target that GG Poker set for itself but this came at a significant cost, as there were overlays in the majority of direct satellites, throughout the Road to Vegas promotion.

The total overlay in direct satellites was $1,622,100! On average over $1,600 was added by GG Poker for every satellite package won and almost $2,000 per qualifier actually going to Vegas.

There were also overlays in feeder satellites and although those have not been calculated, the total cost of overlays for the promotion is likely to be close to, if not in excess of $2m. This does not take into account the $1m in ticket drops that took place during the first few weeks of the promotion.

Taking all this into account, the final cost for GG Poker is likely to be in excess of $3m and It will cost the site another $1m if one of these players goes on to become the WSOP Main Event champion.

What’s the Next Live Event to Qualify for at GG Poker?

GG Poker has not yet released details of the next live events that players can qualify for via online satellites. Although nothing has been announced yet, some possible events that could be up next include:

WSOPE - The World Series of Poker satellites may now be over, but there is another WSOP event taking place later this year. The WSOPE at Kings Casino, Rozvadov is in November. Satellites on GG Poker can be expected to available later this summer, perhaps in August.
Triton Poker Super High Roller Series - The next Triton Series event hasn’t been announced yet, but a further European event is very likely. But where could it be held? Perhaps in Cyprus, London, Madrid or Paris? Wherever it takes place, satellites to the $25,000 GG Million$ Live event at the Triton Poker Series will be available on GG Poker.
Eurasian Poker Tour - GG Poker has already run satellites for several €550 EAPT main events this year. Although no further EAPT events have yet been announced, it is expected that they will be soon and after that has happened, we might expect to see online satellites reappear on GG Poker
