GG Million$ Week Returns to GG Poker

GG Poker made a very significant announcement at the beginning of August, that they are in the process of buying the WSOP brand from Caesars Entertainment, for an agreed price of $500m.

This news came shortly after the return of WSOP Paradise had been announced and was followed up by GG Poker releasing details of the 2024 Online WSOP. With all these World Series of Poker related news stories dropping in the space of a few weeks, one regular event that takes place on GG Poker has slipped under the radar.

I’m talking about the latest GG Million$ Week, which is set to take place from August 11-19, 2024. The GG Million$ Week is a series of high roller tournaments, with over $20m in guaranteed prize pools.

The Main Event of the Series has a $5m prize pool guarantee and has its Day 2 on Monday August 19th, with Day 1s running every day throughout the series, costing a mere $10,300 to enter. 

The final table will be broadcast live on Tuesday 20th August at 18.15 (UTC) on GG Poker TV, where one player will scoop the $1m first prize.

Once the final table players are known, there will even be the opportunity to bet on the outcome and before the tournament starts, players can buy a piece of the action of their favourite players via PokerStake.

There are 57 events in total on the schedule and with buy-ins ranging from $525 to $25,000. Formats are varied, including a wide range of different tournaments. All the usual suspects are there, including Omaholic, Bounty Hunters and Mystery Bounty, as well as plain old vanilla tournaments: the classic poker tournament format with no bells or whistles.

Despite the high buy-ins for the events on the GG Million$ Week schedule, there is an extensive step satellite system, enabling players to start at smaller buy-ins and work their way up top win seats into festival events. 

The satellite paths vary from event to event, but typically the lowest rung on the GG Million$ Week satellite ladder costs $5 to $12 to enter. These are running around the clock in the run-up to the start of the festival and during the GG Million$ Week itself.

As the GGMillion$ is one of the more serious events that take place at GG Poker, players compete using their real names rather than their usual screen names. 

The best performing player in the history of the series is Artur Martirosian, who has 10 GG Million$ titles to his name, 42 final tables and has cashed 75 times for a total of $8,761,766 in winnings. 

Martirosian is way ahead of second placed Michael Addamo, who has eight titles, 28 final tables, 42 cashes and just under $6m in winnings. His lead is so great that it’s almost impossible that he will be caught during this edition of the GG Million$ Week. 

However there will be opportunities for players in the top ten to closer the gap, such as Addamo, Ole Schemion, David Yan, Wiktor Malinowksi and WSOP Main Event final table player NIklas Astedt.
